For ten years, APA has been organizing a range of activities aimed at equipping a network of leaders who will drive change in their communities.
Here are some of the special ways APA is equipping this network of leaders to serve as role models.
Professional Development: At APA, we believe in sharing knowledge. To achieve this, we equip citizens through the pedagogical forums we organize. Across all cohorts, we emphasize professional development and coaching. These Civic Leaders are then able to share knowledge with other members of the community.
One way we promote professional development is by going beyond the education sector. For example, APA organized a training session to teach Civic Leaders how to administer first aid. Given the current challenges the country is facing, it is crucial for community members to know basic techniques that can save lives. This first aid session for Civic Leaders aimed to equip responsible citizens to serve the nation. After this training, the Civic Leaders were well-equipped with essential tools to support their communities.
Collective Leadership: At APA, we believe in teamwork. We believe that equipping more competent individuals leads to better results. These trained individuals can then transform the communities they live in.
Transformational Leadership: Transformational leadership allows us to develop skills and foster a new mindset. It enables Civic Leaders to drive real change and actively participate in the development of their communities. APA has a major goal: to train 50,000 Civic Leaders to serve 4 million children in Haiti.
Promoting Our Culture and Country: We believe that our culture is our identity. For this reason, the activities we organize are closely tied to promoting the value of our nation’s culture. We showcase what makes us proud as a people and explore how we can use our history to transform or improve the places we live in.
Sharing Joy, Celebrating, and Showing Appreciation: Despite the difficult times the country is going through, we believe communities can change. To make this happen, we must work together. Community members play a vital role in this effort. APA works to equip leaders through its cohorts to transform their environments, improve the quality of education for learners, foster collaboration, and spread joy!
For ten years, APA has been working with communities to bring change and lay the foundation for a better future where every child has access to inclusive education. Civic Leaders play a critical role in this mission. We believe that working together is the way to achieve this. Join us in this movement!
